Homework: Songs and Poetic Elements.

You may not be aware how rich in poetic elements are the songs we listen to.

Instructions: Read the definitions and the examples below. Search on the Internet for song lyrics containing .  You should be able to identify two text for each element. Post your answers.


An Oxymoron is a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction.
Example:

A Hyperbole is an exaggerated statement or claim not meant to be taken literally.

Symbolism is a figure of speech that is used when an author wants to create a certain mood or emotion in a work of literature. It is the use of an object, person, situation or word to represent something else, like an idea, in literature.
