Poetry Unit Objectives and Pretest

Upon completion of this unit, the student will be able to:

• An understanding of rhyme scheme and meter
• Analyze the various elements of poetry, such as diction, tone, form, genre, imagery, figures of speech, symbolism, theme, etc.
• Identify various types of poetry by the rhyme scheme  
• Understand and appreciate poetry as a literary art form
• Construct a Poetry Scrapbook as a final assignment.
